So, I've been pretty heavily distracted from fandom lately with school and actual projects. On one hand, this is a good thing, since I actually have a portfolio now (joy~)... but I'm also having fandom withdrawl. 8D;

I recently got into Visual Novels. I've played a couple in the past and have always loved the idea of the Ren'Py engine, and after taking a look at it for fun, the ideas just started flowing and haven't stopped. I already have a story structure, routes, and endings worked out and the beginnings of a script. I'm shooting for about 50,000 words and fourteen endings for a commercial release by 2011. It's probably the biggest project I've ever worked on, but I have a good feeling about it--for one thing, visual novels rely mainly on what my strengths are anyway--art and writing--without the indepth knowledge of coding that killed my other amateur attempts to make a game. I'll probably make some kind of separate community for updates once I get more to show for it, but at the moment I'm just working on the brainstorming. 

In other news, Deadman Wonderland is getting released here int he states and it has left me infinite;y happy. I'm a big fan of the manga. Also, Bioshock has converted me into a tentative FPS player, and I'm lame enough to have preordered the sequal. Considering that the original was a mastepiece of storytelling, I have high hopes for sequal, but I'm also prepared to be disappointed, haha.

I also got a chance to play and finish Silent Hill Shattered Memories... and felt like I was suckerpunched in the gut. Forget every other game in 2009--it was absolutely amazing.

Doing some summer cleaning and selling off some of my old collection (manga, movies, doujinshi) to make way for new things and new interests. :'D Some things will probably we added as I go. Pictures not up yet - I'll do those tommarrow.

My first ten seconds of animation storyboarding ever. :'D!

Some things to note: I have no background in animation besides a passion and a cursory familiarity with the process. This was not made using any professional programs. (Far, far from it!) And it is only the storyboard. As I become more familiar with the process, it'll be bound to look much smoother, and the final product will not be this messy (my sketches always look like that. >__>;; ) Technically, I'm caught somewhere between being overjoyed that it moves and cringing about how bad it looks. xD;;;

Any constructive criticism, or comments in general, would really be appreciated, as this is my first time doing anything of this sort, and that it moves at all is a wonder. Ahaha! :'D

GRiMMERY is a story I've been working on for truly ages. It does not resemble much of the original draft at this point, but it has never suffered for it. It's about... a lot of things really.In some ways, it's a very traditional fantasy epic, and in others, it ended up turning into a social commentary on the loss of innocence. :')

So, I didn't write as much as I could have today. There were two reasons. One is totally legit, and the other, well, isn't. xD

Reason 1: Gametamp is EPIC. You cannot tell me otherwise when I now can play things like pyschonauts, zeus, pharaoh, and half a dozen other oldies without having to hunt them down.

Reason 3: Stopped by the library on the way home from work, and got reference material.

You know what I'd love? If I could find a book on the modern Italian perceptions on World War II from civilian upwards, that didn't completely focus on Mussolini. He had six biographies in the Italian culture section, but nothing on the War in general.

I'm really bad at backgrounds, so this is some kinda accomplishment fer me. I spend two days one this, and I ended up liking the background way more, ahaha. Lucky and Manus didn't turn out so well. Done on Tegaki e, while taking a break from writing SHOT.

I keep having second thoughts on my book. Mostly along the lines of: ISN'T THIS STORY A LITTLE TOO DARK FOR ME?! ...And then I remember that I seem to torture my characters unconditionally anyway, even in the lightest hearted things I've ever written. THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT OKAY but I've never written anything quite this dark before. And here it's supposed to be a satire/parody of b movies and vampire romances. Ahaha.

It isn't like I don't have half a dozen shelved plots I could work on instead... but I switch stories so frequently at this point I just want to write something. And I happened to be working on Shot when I came to that conlusion. At least now I have something written.

Complaining ending now. D:

1) Be more responsible.

2) Be more responsive.

3) Finish a novel.

4) Start a webcomic.

5) Working on lighting in artwork.

6) Clean out my closet.

7) Get a better job.

Perhaps it was the fanart I was looking at yesterday (which wasn't precisely romantic either, and was only one picture), but this decided it needed to be written, even if it isn't that great and I kinda lost the point I was trying to make. xD
